Every folder in our virtual network drive T: represents a so-called SharedSpace. The SharedSpace forms the basis for a trusted community, a team or a work group. Using the folders, you work normally using Windows Explorer in the same way as with any other folder in the file system. Any number of SharedSpaces can be created using the context menu or the TeamDrive Explorer. Within the SharedSpace, unlimited numbers of files and subfolders can be created.
New team members are invited using e-mail via the menu item “Invite User”. As a registered TeamDrive user, the new member receives an invitation via e-mail and a direct notification from the TeamDrive system, inquiring whether he wants to accept the invitation. Members, who are not yet registered, receive an e-mail containing the address from where the TeamDrive software can be downloaded. After the installation, the new member automatically receives the secure invitation via the TeamDrive system.
All documents and files that you have synchronized with TeamDrive are located on your computer. TeamDrive always works, even offline. You can work on your documents or listen to your MP3 files any time you want.
As soon as your computer is re-connected with the Internet and TeamDrive is running, a synchronization of TeamDrive documents occurs automatically.
Yes, you can exchange any type of confidential data using PrimeSharing. PrimeSharing was awarded the Data Protection Seal of Approval from the Independent Center for Privacy Protection Schleswig-Holstein. The built-in automatic encryption prevents access to the data by unauthorized third parties. Before the data leaves your computer, it is encrypted, and is only stored on the servers in encrypted form. Even administrators can not view the encrypted data. Only the members of a team have a key to the data. The key is not stored in any central location; rather, it is only stored with the members of the respective team.
The reliability and the personal control are fundamental principles of TeamDrive. All data is highly encrypted (256 bit) before transmission, and only the personally invited team members have the access key. Neither administrators nor any unauthorized person can view the data over the Internet or on the relay servers. Only the client computers know who has access to the data.
If you send a file as an e-mail attachment to several people, you receive back the file with the same name, and with various changes and comments. Because all of the files have the same name, it is difficult to keep the different versions apart from one another, or to name them in a way that makes clear which version was modified by which person, which document was the original, etc. With PrimeSharing all files with the same name are represented in a version tree. It is easy to determine who made which modification when. Conflicts between different versions are easily resolved.
Yes, all files are represented in the version tree. You can view any of the old versions and likewise, make an old version the current version.
Yes, in this case, each file of each team member is saved as its own version. Overwriting of versions is not possible. If a conflict should arise with the processing, this is indicated and can be resolved manually.
The risk of losing important data is very low. All data is stored on your own computer and additionally on the relay server, as well as on the computers of the team members. Data is never lost by overwriting. You can access older versions of a document at any time.
The installation of the PrimeSharing software takes about 5 minutes. The installation requires an e-mail address and an Internet connection. For the verification of your identity, the activation form is sent to you by e-mail from the server. After that, TeamDrive is immediately ready for use.
PrimeSharing TeamDrive is not meant to replace e-mails, but it is the perfect complement to them. The transmission of large attachment per e-mail is frequently cumbersome, leads to errors, and increases complexity. With PrimeSharing, documents are automatically encrypted and compressed before transmission. The built-in encryption mechanism enables the safe, simple and secure transmission of data. Every team member has the same documents and information; that increases clarity.
As the administrator in a SharedSpace, you can remove a member from the team at any time. In doing so, the team data is also removed from the computer of the excluded member. Naturally, members can also remove themselves from a team based on their own decision.
The local use of TeamDrive is always free-of-charge. Also, membership in teams who synchronize their data using their own WebDAV or FTP server is always possible without charge for the team members. Only the use of TeamDrive HTTP servers, which are hosted by various service providers, requires the Premium version of TeamDrive, available at a charge.
The membership in multiple teams does not increase the costs. If you exchange large quantities of data within your team, we recommend a flat rate plan for your Internet access.
TeamDrive uses the same protocol for its communication as a web browser. Anyone who can surf the Internet can also synchronize TeamDrive data. For the problem-free use across company firewalls and proxy servers, we recommend the use of the Premium version and the TeamDrive http relay server.
No. At no time, does TeamDrive access a computer using TeamDrive from the outside. Security and personal control are fundamental principles of TeamDrive. No ports on the personal firewall need to be opened for the access from outside.
No, additional hardware is not necessary. We recommend a computer with 500 MHz, 512 MB main memory, and Windows 2000 / XP or Vista (with additional memory) as the operating system. In addition, an e-mail address and access to the Internet are necessary for using TeamDrive.
Currently not. At the moment we only support Windows on the client side. Future releases will support additional plattforms. Stay tuned.
